SOUTH YARMOUTH - Dorothy Bruun was born in Boston Sept. 15, 1917, to parents William A. Bruun and Viola (Waters) Bruun. Her family moved to Salem in 1927, Dorothy graduated from Salem High School, class of 1935, and later attended the Salem Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1939. She worked at the Salem Hospital for a short time, while she continued her post graduate courses at John Hopkins University in 1940.
